Do you trust in anxiety or God?

Do you trust in anxiety or God?

“‘Do not be anxious for your life, as to what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, as to what you shall put on’” (Matthew 6:25).

Which has real power, our anxiety or our God? If God's people worry and are anxious we are in effect telling God that we do not trust Him, that we do not trust the Bible. In so doing we have elevated the circumstances causing the worry to a place higher than God.

Who is in complete control of all things? God's ways and higher than ours. He is infinite we are finite. We don't need to know everything He is doing or question His methods. When we don't understand what is going on that is the time to trust Him. We tend to get things wrong so often, but our Father God never does. Do we trust God or ourselves?

Does any of our worrying even help? Does it solve our problems or make our lives better? "Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" (Matthew 6:27)

He loves you and will take care of the small things and the big things. Show Him that you trust Him. "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)

Maybe a good strategy is to try replacing that worry with reading His Word or with prayer every time we find the worry creeping in. Just put everything else aside and spend time with God.

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matthew 6:33-34)
