Orbus Ministries Australia Inc.
Orbus Ministries Australia Inc. is a Christian volunteer charity which exists to demonstrate the love of God through word and deed to the weak and vulnerable.
We are motivated by gratitude to and love for God: “This is love for God: to obey his commands” (1 John 5:3) … such as: “to love your neighbour as yourself” (Matt. 19:19), “look after orphans and widows in their distress” (James 1:27), “do good to all people” (Gal. 6:10), be a Good Samaritan (Luke 10:37), feed the hungry, provide for the needy, care for the sick, visit the prisoner (Matt. 25:35-36).
Orbus had its beginnings in 2007 with the establishment of a ministry to AIDS orphans in the Central African country of Malawi.
We are a Partner Mission Agency of Australian Presbyterian World Mission, or APWM for short, and we are governed by a board of five people from four different Presbyterian Church of Australia congregations.
As a volunteer charity there are no high administration costs and nearly 100% of donated funds are used directly for ministry purposes. There are no wages, fees, travel or related expenses paid for any Orbus Ministries Australia Inc. management, board members or any Australian volunteers.
As a Christian charity we try to do good to all people with no discrimination, in practical ways, all the while sharing the one thing that can ultimately save people, the gospel of salvation through trusting in Jesus Christ. The poorest of the poor are the richest of the rich if he or she has faith in Jesus, which is worth more than all the gold on earth.
As 19th century Christian, Charles Spurgeon, once said "Poverty is a hard heritage; but those who trust in the Lord are made rich by faith. They know that they are not forgotten of God, and though it may seem that they are overlooked in His providential distribution of good things, they look for a time when all this shall be righted... The poor saint sings many a song which the rich sinner cannot understand.”

PDF Brochure - Please feel free to distribute and print out our brochure and/or newsletters and place some copies in your church or work.
The word Orbus comes from the Armenian word orb (-oy, -oc) meaning "orphan, fatherless (child)." From this comes (h) orbos, from which the Latin word Orbus is derived, with the modern meaning: "underprivileged, disadvantaged, neglected, defenseless, impoverished, needy, poor, orphan, bereaved, childless and destitute."
Our logo depicts the vision of Orbus, which is to stand alongside and help the weak, vulnerable and poor, especially children who have lost one or both of their natural protectors, and to do this for and in obedience to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The logo depicts three upright Christian "fish" symbols, with the one in the centre representing an orphaned child and the two either side of that child representing loving Christians who have come forward to protect and love that child, in the name of Jesus.
